Reading legend Shaka Hislop has spoken publicly for the first time since his on-screen collapse on Sunday.
The Trinidad and Tobago international played over 100 times for the Royals in the 1990s and kickstarted a career in the English game with clubs such as Newcastle United and West Ham United.
Covering Real Madrid versus AC Milan for ESPN on Sunday, the club favourite collapsed and was assisted by co-present Dan Thomas.
Releasing a video on Monday, the former keeper believed it was life giving him 'a moment to pause.'
Great news @ShakaHislop👏

"Well, that was awkward," Hislop said. "What 24 hours this has been. Every so often life gives you a moment to pause, and this was mine. There is so much I have to be thankful for; my wife, kids, family, friends, loved ones, people I have shared a space with over the years and have lost touch with for whatever reason and have reached out to me directly or indirectly. Thank you.
"My response now has to be to seek out the best medical opinion I can get and listen to what my doctors have to say. I’d like to say thanks to Dan and the ESPN family- the camera operators, medical staff at the Rosebowl who responded in the way that they did and afforded me the care that I got. I know now that even when we argue and disagree, I have the fullest support of each and every one of you. I’m looking forward to getting back and doing what I enjoy doing most."
