Manchester City midfielder Lewis Fiorini and Fulham's Jay Stansfield are among Reading's loan targets, according to national reports.
Fiorini, on loan at Blackpool last season, has piqued the Royals' interest repeatedly over the summer as Ruben Selles remains keen to bolster a shallow midfield.
Meanwhile, Stansfield hit nine goals in 39 appearances for Exeter City last season and looks unlikely to force his way into Fulham's Premier League side.
Yet to dip into the loan market, Reading can have five temporary players in any given matchday squad.

Four additions have been made in recent weeks, with the likes of Charlie Savage and Sam Smith joining the new League One club.
