Reading forward Sam Smith is a 'very big question mark' for the season opener against Peterborough United tomorrow.
The 25-year-old returned from a two-year spell with Cambridge United last month and featured in two friendlies, but has suffered with a quad injury.
Despite being not as bad as first feared, the striker is still a doubt to make his second debut against Posh.
Speaking to the media, boss Ruben Selles said: "He has been training very few [little] during the week. We did the final test today and need to see if he feels comfortable otherwise, we will need to leave him out. He’s a very big question mark for tomorrow."
Other new arrivals, such as Lewis Wing, Charlie Savage and Harvey Knibbs are all poised to make their full debuts in the Royals' first League One match for over 20 years.
