Both Charlie Savage and Harvey Knibbs will make their competitive debuts from the start as Ruben Selles names his first competitive line-up as Reading manager.
Not registered to play until Thursday, the 20-year-old joined from Manchester United to much fanfare.
Knibbs, who scored in pre-season against Southampton, will be without former Cambridge United teammate Sam Smith, who misses out with injury.
Plenty of familiar faces remain from last season's relegation, with the likes of Tom Holmes, Tom McIntyre and Andy Yiadom in the back four.
Andy Carroll is joined by youngster Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan up front against Posh.

Darren Ferguson names a strong side for his visitors, with top scorer Jonson Clarke-Harris and England youth international Ronnie Edwards in from the start.
Posh reached the play-off semi-final last season, sensationally losing to Sheffield Wednesday despite leading 4-0 from the first leg.
