The Reading youngsters hardly put a foot wrong as they ran riot at Millwall, winning 4-0 and securing safe passage into round two.

Coniah Boyce-Clarke, 6: A relatively quiet night for the Academy graduate, who picked up his first professional clean sheet. Staying alert throughout, the keeper made some smart saves toward the end to keep the hosts at bay.

Amadou Mbengue, 6: Forced off early on with concussion, the 21-year-old threw himself into tackles and kept the tempo high after the first minute goal.

Tyler Bindon, 7: Imperious at the back, the new signing hardly put a foot wrong. Even taking free-kicks on the edge of the opposing box, the USA youth international could prove a shrewd pick-up.

Reading Chronicle:

Nelson Abbey, 7: A proud day for the Academy graduate as he captained his boyhood club, Abbey was on cruise control against experienced striker Tom Bradshaw. 

Matty Carson, 6: A strong debut from the teenager, Carson hardly put a foot wrong at the Den.

Tivonge Rushesha, 7: Determined and battle-hardened in midfield, the newbie impressed even more after shifting to full-back following the withdrawal of Mbengue. Even on a booking, every tackle was carried out perfectly.

Lewis Wing, 6: An experienced head amongst a sea of youth and enthusiasm. Not doing anything standout, the new signing kept things simple and ensured the Royals controlled the midfield battle.

Harvey Knibbs, 6: Similar to Wing, Knibbs was one of the more experienced heads in the team. Executing the press well, he was constantly looking to thread balls for the forwards.

Reading Chronicle:

Mamadi Camara, 7: A full 90 in the tank for the teenager, he never ran out of energy. Duly rewarded for his efforts with the final goal of the evening, his first professional strike.

Caylan Vickers, 7: Backing up Saturday's excellent cameo with a start, the teenager grabbed two assists and was unlucky not to score. Perhaps the newest gem in Reading's academy crown.

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan, 8: Everything he tried came off. Hold up play was exquisite and he took his two goals with aplomb. Night and day from his appearance against Peterborough.

 

Substitutes

Michael Craig, 6: Quietly went about his business well. Broke play up and looked to play forward into midfield. Good head on young shoulders.

Femi Azeez, 6: Loved driving forward and taking on a nervous Millwall defence. Could have grabbed himself a couple of goals with better finishing.

Reading Chronicle:

Charlie Savage, 7: Did everything he needed to do as a sub, kept things neat and tidy. And as for the free-kick...some way to open your account for his new club.

Harlee Dean, 6: Not too noticeable, which is good for a central defender. Valuable minutes in the legs of what could be a crucial addition.

Basil Tuma, 6: Ran hard and pulled the Lions defence apart. Unlucky not to grab a goal, but Camara made sure his hard work was not wasted.

Nesta Guinness-Walker, 6: Saw out the game well for the final 10 minutes. More minutes for who will be a big player for the Royals this campaign.
