Reading midfielders Charlie Savage and Ben Elliott have been called up for their national teams next month.

Both summer signings from giants Manchester United and Chelsea respectively, the pair were regulars for their nations during youth stages.

Savage, 20, has featured in every Reading game since his arrival and has impressed the fanbase.

Son of former Wales international Robbie Savage, Charlie is following in his father's footsteps by earning a call-up for the Under-21 side.

They are to face Liechtenstein and Lithuania in the coming fortnight, with former rumoured transfer targets Fin Steves and Rubin Colwill also involved for Wales.

Elliott, English by birth and a youth international for the Three Lions up to Under-16s, has already made his full debut for Cameroon.

Still only 20, the exciting prospect is yet to start a league game for the Royals since signing a three-year deal in Berkshire earlier in the month.

As a result of international commitments, the visit of Bristol Rovers on September 9 has been postponed.

Other potential call-ups include the likes of Andy Yiadom with Ghana and Jahmari Clarke to Jamaica.
