Reading owner Dai Yongge has been charged by the EFL for failing to satisfy the agreed terms set out.

The Chinese businessman was required to submit 125 per cent of the forecasted wage bill into an account after failing to pay staff on time on three occasions last season.

Failing to do this, the Football League have charged the owner personally.

A statement says: "The League considers these further proceedings against him personally are necessary given the repeated failings in meeting the Club’s funding requirements which have only a detrimental impact on the Club and its wider stakeholders."

This comes just days after Royals fans protested against Yongge, throwing over 200 tennis balls onto the pitch.
