Reading's record of consecutive wins at the start of a season remains intact after Wolves shocked Manchester City on Saturday.
Ian Branfoot's men won 13 consecutive games from the start of the 1985/86 season en route to the Third Division title.
Blackpool, Plymouth Argyle, Bristol Rovers, Cardiff City, Walsall, Rotherham United, Brentford, Swansea City, Doncaster Rovers, Chesterfield, Bolton Wanderers, Newport County and Lincoln City were all beaten from August to October.
A draw, ironically with Wolves, ended the run at 14 matches.
The Biscuitmen would win the title with 94 points, seven points clear of runners-up Plymouth.
Many have tried since, and all have failed, as the record ticks toward it's 40th year.
Last season's treble winners City had won their first six Premier League matches this campaign, the only side still able to beat the record heading into the weekend.
However, Gary O'Neil's Wolves pulled off the shock of the weekend by beating the title favourites 2-1 at Molineux.
Gilkes, Hickes and Co. will remain in the history books, for at least one more season anyway.
