Almost 100 members of Reading United Cricket Club turned out for their annual awards evening last week.
Held in Woodley’s Coronation Hall, members and their families turned out to celebrate the achievements of the season with a meal and music from member Suresh Paluri.
Founded in 2021, three of their senior teams were promoted from their respective divisions last season.
They are still working with Wokingham Borough Council to find a permanent home for the club.
Councillor Clive Jones was among one of the special guests handing out awards throughout the evening.
Former India international Deep Dasgupta; Bobby Malik; Calcot Cricket Club chief Vivek Sharma and Chennai Super Kings cricket academy’s Sri Tanguturi joined in the celebrations.
Chairman of the club, Kiran Alluri, said: “Everyone who attended the event had a great time together. We, as a club, are looking forward to 2024 and aiming to do well in the leagues as well as work with Wokingham and local councils to improve our ground facilities and to continue to support the game we all love!”
