Reading will be without Wales international Charlie Savage for Saturday's trip to Shrewsbury Town after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.
Booked in the first half for simulation, the 20-year-old played the entire 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw against managerless Rovers.
The Manchester United youngster has scored three goals in 20 appearances and earned his first senior Wales cap in the previous international break.
Any player picking up five yellows before match week 19 results in a one-match ban.
The likes of Michael Craig or Ben Elliott will likely come in for the son of former Premier League regular Robbie Savage.
Reading have played 15 matches, with Femi Azeez and Sam Hutchinson needing to avoid being booked in the next four matches in order to not be suspended after already accumulating four yellow cards.
Ten yellows accumulated by week 32 will result in a two-match ban.
