Reading have paid HMRC on time this month, and have secured funding for this month's wages, the Reading Chronicle was told.

Every month questions are asked regarding tax and wages as owner Dai Yongge continuously flouts rules regarding payment.

The Royals have been hit with two winding-up petitions this season alone for late payment of tax, as well as still having an EFL charge hanging over their head for surpassing the maximum number of days allowed in being overdue.

Mr Yongge was hit with a £20,000 fine earlier this week after failing to pay staff on multiple occasions this year.

Last month, everyday staff were paid four days late while the players received their salaries in full in order to avoid a latest EFL points deduction.

However, the Reading Chronicle have been told that HMRC were paid on Tuesday and that the funds are in place for this month's payroll.

This comes the same day that news broke regarding multiple redundancies at the football club following cost cutting.
