Reading scored in each half to ease to a 2-0 victory over Wigan Athletic.

Here are the ratings below.

David Button, 6: Had very little to do but was alert to make a smart save after Nelson Abbey was dispossessed. Distribution looked solid and a great clean sheet.

Amadou Mbengue, 6: Combative and full of energy, the full-back remained hot and cold throughout as he occasionally over-committed but recovered well to make some big tackles.

Tom Holmes, 6: Solid display from the captain, who won his headers and his tackles. Has looked good since returning to the fold last month.

Nelson Abbey, 6: Complimented Holmes well with some pace in behind to recover. Was lucky to be bailed out by his goalkeeper as Callum McManaman picked his pocket.

Jeriel Dorsett, 6: Had a shaky start but grew into the game and made some big blocks toward the end to help see the game out. Has his limitations at full-back, but played to his strengths.

Michael Craig, 7: Had a slow start and lost possession on occasion but really grew into the game and became a key member of the team in seeing the game out. Really making a name for himself at the base of midfield.

Lewis Wing, 6: Not at his usual best in midfield, but still had the quality to lay the ball off for Femi Azeez's first-half strike. Always calm and composed in possession.

Harvey Knibbs, 6: Similar to Wing, not at the level he has set himself in recent weeks but still a well-rounded performance.

Femi Azeez, 8: Full of confidence all afternoon and looked a constant threat. Took his goal really well to put the Royals' noses in front.

Sam Smith, 7: Was feeding off scraps but was alert to make the most of his only real chance after the break and double the lead. A key star for the club.

Paul Mukairu, 6: Hit and miss from the loanee, who loved to take people on and go on mazy runs, but inevitably nothing would come of it.

Substitutes

Ben Elliott, 6: Some clever touches and had the confidence to try off some challenging passes. Still needs to acclimatise to EFL football, knocked off the ball too easily on occasion.
