Reading boss Ruben Selles has warned supporters that he is not expecting a busy January transfer window, wanting to keep the current squad together until the end of the season.
For the next month, transfer rumours will be rife as the Royals look to keep hold of their stars despite remaining in financial crisis.
Under a transfer embargo until 2025 at the earliest, free agents and loan deals remain the only possibilities for the club.
With Ovie Ejaria and Dom Ballard leaving, spaces will be open for the club to make deals, if they so wish and at a cost which suits the cash-strapped outfit.
Speaking after a 3-2 win lifted his side out of the League One relegation zone, Selles was asked about the upcoming month.
"We cannot make any transfer that is not a free agent or a loan, and I don’t think it is the moment for us to get some loans and some inexperienced players, we already had that period at the beginning of the season with our own players. It is a period for us to be solid. I would like to keep my squad as it is right now, and I will fight to keep that status until the end of the season."
Cesare Casadei was the only player to join the club last January, a window in which the Royals are not traditionally very busy.
