Former Wigan Athletic captain Max Power has warned Reading fans that 'no life rafts will be handed out' in the club's fight for survival, but has called on the EFL to do more.
Power, now playing his football in Saudi Arabia, was captain of Wigan Athletic when they were put into administration last summer, only kept afloat by local businessman Mike Danson.
The then Latics chairman, Talal Al-Hamad, was linked with a Royals takeover before Christmas but his Generva group have since pulled out of the running.
I hope for everyone’s sake at @ReadingFC the situation is resolved. However there won’t be any life rafts handed out. Just look at Bury FC and what they’ve had to go through. Wigan were lucky in the summer a local business decided to save the club. I hope Reading are this lucky💙

Taking to social media to give his thoughts, Power said: "Sad state of affairs at Reading FC. Having recently been involved in a similar situation I know all to well what the staff, players and fans are going through right now. At what point are the EFL going to get their act together and prevent these situations from happening?
"I'd love to have look at the “Fit and Proper test” prospective new owners have to go through. Same cycle, run a football club into the ground and eventually disappear, then the people left behind pick up the pieces with points deductions and a financial mess.

Fighting relegation with the Royals this season, Ruben Selles takes his side to the DW Stadium on Saturday.
