Reading lost 1-0 at Wigan Athletic on Saturday, ending a six-game unbeaten run.

Here are the player ratings.

David Button, 7: Perhaps Reading's best player, which tells you everything you need to know. Could do nothing with the goal conceded, but prevented at least three others with smart saves.

Andy Yiadom, 6: Defensively left a little to be desired, but showed real attacking intent and looked to make things happen.

Tyler Bindon, 5: A shaky afternoon for the youngster, who gave away needless fouls and dived in regularly. Will need to play himself into some form with Nelson Abbey's impending exit.

Tom Holmes, 6: Decent showing from the new Luton Town defender, who was dominant aerially and composed with the ball at his feet. Will be leaned on lots by younger defenders now as an experienced player in the camp.

Michael Craig, 6: Ran around plenty of flew into tackles. Needed to see more ball progression, with Charlie Savage brought on to replace him on the hour mark.

Lewis Wing, 6: Nowhere near the standards the star midfielder has set in recent weeks. The team relied on him to tick over and it was noticeable across the team when he is off the boil.

Harvey Knibbs, 6: His usual energetic self, looking to win the ball high and doing so on occasion. Should have scored, having two good chances in front of goal.

Femi Azeez, 5: Was jeered by the home crowd and it seemed to get on his back. Not as effective as in recent weeks, making the wrong choices on occasion.

Sam Smith, 5: Never got into the game and struggled to keep up the pressing when he felt it was not working. Head didn't seem fully in it like previous weeks, cutting a frustrated figure.

Paul Mukairu, 6: One of his better performances, playing direct and carrying the ball forward on every occasion.

Substitutes

Clinton Mola, 6: More attacking than Jeriel Dorsett, looking to create more from deep. A decent cameo but nothing stand out.

Charlie Savage, 6: Saw plenty of the ball and looked to progress it forward with every opportunity. Flew into tackles and more often than not came out with it. A good impact in the midfield.

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan, 6: Should have scored late on but saw little of the ball in general.
