Reading boss Ruben Selles has confirmed injury doubts remain over defender Tom Holmes for tomorrow's Thames Valley Derby at Oxford.
A sold-out away end are travelling to the Kassam Stadium for a first-ever league meeting at their three-sided home, a first meeting away to the U's since a League Cup game in 2004.
Five players down after the likes of Nelson Abbey, Tom McIntyre and Caylan Vickers departed during the transfer window, fears were raised over Holmes and Andy Yiadom.
This occurred when Holmes flew into a tackle against Leyton Orient last Saturday, but came off worse and was taken off shortly afterward.
Speaking to the local press ahead of the clash, Selles said: "Both have been training. Tom is still a doubt for tomorrow because of the problem with his back so today he managed to train but he is still painful there so we need confirmation in the morning if he can play. Andy has been completing training and I don’t expect any problem for him."
January loan signing Zane Monlouis could be in line to make his debut at the back after sealing a switch from Arsenal.
It kickstarts a run of seven matches in 21 days, including three away matches in the next four.
