Reading players and staff were shown a rousing video made by supporter groups ahead of Saturday's clash with Carlisle United, helping inspire the team to a 3-1 win at Brunton Park.

Almost 1,400 supporters made the mammoth trip to Cumbria for the first visit since 1982, this coming just four days after the club were hit with yet another EFL points deduction due to Dai Yongge's late HMRC payments last year.

Pulling the club together, supporter groups shared the video on social media and fans up in Cumbria ahead of the match made sure Ruben Selles and his team were aware of the backing they had.

Sam Smith and Harvey Knibbs found the net, sending the club back up to 16th in League One heading into the final 10 matches.

Speaking on the impact of the video, scorer Knibbs said: "We had seen a couple of the videos they had made pre-game too and they were unreal. All we can do is thank them because they've been a massive part of putting these results together."

Selles added: "Somebody made a video and asked me last night to send it to the players. We did it. It was a video that showed Reading values, our team values, and how we work hard to get it. I think it was the proper thing to do, to show it to the players."

Now five points clear of the relegation zone, Wycombe Wanderers visit the SCL Stadium on Saturday for a Berks-Bucks clash.
