Reading fans are expecting the worst as Supporters Trust at Reading have warned of a 'shortfall' in this month's outgoings, which would trigger a further two-point deduction.

The Royals, who got back to winning ways on Saturday at Carlisle United, were hit with a two-point deduction last week, with a further two suspended, following a HMRC-related hearing.

This suspended deduction would come into play should the club fail to pay any outgoings between now and the end of the season.

Payments were made for February, predominantly using money raised via player sales in January, but fears remain over the future.

STAR, who have weekly meetings with Nigel Howe, who is in charge of finding a buyer for the club, have warned that there are fears for future payments.

"Things moving along in the background but we are fighting against time," it said. "We have a shortfall as expected this month and everyone at the club is working hard considering all funding options.

"As fans we need to stick together and back the team as much as we can. All points on the board are important and could be vital for our survival in League One."

Another deduction, with the club having already been hit with 18 over the past three seasons, would plunge the Royals yet further into danger of relegation to League Two.
