Reading Football Club are in 'advanced exclusivity talks' with prospective North American buyers, the Reading Chronicle understands.
Another tumultuous week in Berkshire has come to a close, with the Royals' state-of-the-art Bearwood training facility sold to local neighbours Wycombe Wanderers on Thursday.
Supporters have taken protests to the Chairboys' Adam's Park and over 5,000 names have been placed on a petition to prevent the League One side from completing the transaction.
However, it may not be all doom and gloom this week, with the Reading Chronicle aware of at least three parties in advanced talks to purchase the club.
Leading the way is a North American group keen on the sports industry. It is understood that they are in advanced stages and could have a deal agreed, in principle, in the next week.
This would reportedly include the club and the Select Car Leasing Stadium. Former CEO Nigel Howe is brokering the deal despite being caught off guard with Bearwood sale.
The Royals, battling to stay in League One, were close to offering Swiss group Genevra Associates exclusivity before Christmas, but talks stalled at the last minute.
