804 Reading supporters were able to celebrate achieving safety with a thrilling 2-2 draw in Barnsley.
Sam Smith and Lewis Wing twice put the Royals ahead, but the Tykes drew level quickly on both occasions.
Port Vale and Cheltenham Town both suffered defeats and with the pair set to do battle against each other on Tuesday, Reading can no longer be caught by both.
