Reading teenager Jamie Bynoe-Gittens experienced Wembley heartache in the Champions League final on Saturday as Real Madrid beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0.

Los Blancos picked up their 15th European Cup with second-half goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior despite a battling performance from the German outfit.

Bynoe-Gittens, 19, was born and raised in Reading, playing for youth teams such as Theale Tigers and Caversham Trents.

Departing his hometown at Under-14s to move to Manchester City, the midfielder has been with Dortmund since 2022.

Featuring for England at all age groups up to the senior side, he has now played nearly 60 times for the Bundesliga outfit and had a five-minute cameo at Wembley in Saturday's final.

He becomes the second Reading Academy star to feature in a European final squad this week after full-back Omar Richards was an unused substitute in Olympiacos' Conference League win.

Fellow Englishman Jadon Sancho was taken off in Bynoe-Gittens' place, while Jude Bellingham picked up an assist for Carlo Ancelotti's winning side.
