Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are among the eight possible Academy teams that Reading could host in the 2024/25 EFL Trophy.
The Royals, who returned to the minor competition last season after their relegation to the third tier, were knocked out by Brighton and Hove Albion Under-21 at the quarter-final stage last season.
Arsenal, bossed by former Royals coach Mehmet Ali, were dispatched 5-2 in the group stage.
For the coming season, it has already been confirmed that Newport County and Cheltenham Town will face Reading.
One of eight Premier League Academy teams will be added into each group on Thursday afternoon when the draw is completed.
The eight possible opponents are:
Arsenal
Brighton & Hove Albion
Chelsea
Crystal Palace
Fulham
Leicester City
Tottenham Hotspur
West Ham United
Back in 2016 and 2017, the Royals' Academy were entered into the competition as a Category One set-up.
Eliminated at the group phase in 2017, 2016 saw the young Royals reach the third round, eventually eliminated by Yeovil Town.
