Reading fans have reacted generally positively to the news that former Wycombe Wanderers owner Rob Couhig is 'closing in' on purchasing the club from Dai Yongge.
The 75-year-old has been keen on an acquisition for months and, according to the Daily Telegraph, could be confirmed within a fortnight.
This would bring to an end seven years of decline under Yongge and end a particularly painful two-year period in which the club were relegated to League One and constantly in missing bills.
However, Couhig remains a somewhat controversial figure among Royals fans due to his controversial attempted purchase of the Bearwood training facility.
Take a look below at some fan reaction, with opinions from across the board on X.
Depends on what his project is to be! Get it done and let’s hear what he’s got to say.

Has to win me over. I have. No doubt he will sort out the finances. But that doesn’t change his conduct towards us and what he tried to do.

Not sure how much of the Bearwood purchase was him or the new owners at Wycombe. Either way, that’s history and we only care about Reading getting back to some kind of normality.

Good record at Wycombe & will at least bring some stability.

Will be great to see the back of the current owner but Couhig is going to have to win the fans over. Personally I don’t want them but it’s the lesser of two evils.

Understanding the ethos of the club and the fans, whilst being a good communicator would be a good start.
He’s left Wycombe in a healthy state so it’d be better straight away. Maybe the original Bearwood sale idea was all part of this, we’ll probably never know

We have to take it; the past is the past it can't be changed; yes Mr Couhig will have to win some over but it won't be Dai. I firmly believe if this doesn't happen, #ReadingFC as we know it will be gone. Sign the ting Dai and leave us alone.

I have no issues with him.

If he'd bought the training ground it would've reduced our outgoings considerably and given us money. Although he might've been attempting a ground share which also would've given us cash in the bank and halved our outgoings.
Well it’s an upgrade on what we have now. Just having owners that pays wages, HMRC and operating costs will be an upgrade. Expect to see some savage cost cutting if he takes over.

We have little choice James. We need Dai gone. He will certainly run us more prudently and that's not a bad thing. I just hope he realises how important our Academy is. We mustn't lose it or see it diminished
