Eagle-eyed Reading fans have spotted possible future club owner, Rob Couhig, around the town this week as takeover talks edge toward a conclusion.

The 75-year-old American lawyer had five successful years in charge of near-neighbours Wycombe Wanderers, stepping down in May.

Locked in negotiations with the club over recent months, Mr Couhig has been busy in Berkshire conducting meetings with the hierarchy at both the SCL Stadium and Bearwood training ground.

Working alongside him as been former Chairboys captain Joe Jacobson, who could take over the role of CEO should the deal go through as expected.

While the town was busy celebrating England's historic European Championship semi-final victory over the Netherlands, some eagle-eyed Royals fans spotted Couhig on Friar Street in the town.

Later in the evening, Mr Couhig was spotted by more supporters in the bar at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

The Telegraph believes a deal could be wrapped up within the next fortnight, with the League One campaign getting underway in four weeks.
