Reading are targeting a second loan move for Southampton striker Dominic Ballard, according to reports.
The 19-year-old joined the club on loan last summer and scored five goals in 12 appearances before a ruptured patella tendon suffered in November ruled him out for the rest of the season.
After eight months, the teenager returned to full training with Southampton's first-team over pre-season, with the Saints back in the Premier League after winning the Championship play-off's in May.
Popular among supporters and staff last season, Ballard gaining his Premier League debut from then-Southampton boss Ruben Selles, reports are now linking the striker with a return to Berkshire.
According to Reading Today, "it is expected that Southampton will sanction a deal to loan Ballard out again after they gained promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking."
However, it is noted that the club face a battle with interested parties from the Championship for the forward's signature.
The club are unable to make any signings until a takeover progresses, which could take up to a fortnight according to the Telegraph.
