Former Reading star Andy Rinomhota is 'expected to leave' Cardiff City ahead of the new season, with League One Birmingham City reportedly interested.

27-year-old Rinomhota, who rose through the Royals academy, made nearly 150 appearances for the club and won Player of the Season in 2019.

Departing on a free transfer in 2022, the Zimbabwe international has failed to force his way into the reckoning in South Wales, managing under 50 appearances in two years as a Bluebird.

Joining Rotherham United in January on loan, the combative midfielder played 16 times for the Millers as they fell back into League One rock-bottom of the Championship.

According to journalist Darren Witcoop, Rinomhota is 'expected to leave this summer' and Birmingham City are 'among those exploring a deal.'

This news comes on the same day that Rinomhota's former midfielder partner while at Reading- Josh Laurent- was linked with a move to St Andrew's as the Blues continue to aim high in the transfer window.

Reading are currently unable to operate in the transfer window due to uncertainty in the ownership situation, however, a deal with Rob Couhig is thought to be in the final stages.
