Former Reading midfielder Remi Allen has been appointed new Head Coach at Women's Championship outfit, Southampton.
The 33-year-old enjoyed a 16-year playing career which included lengthy spells with Leicester City, Aston Villa and Birmingham City.
Formerly an England youth international, Allen spent four years as a Royal and racked up nearly 70 appearances challenging near the top of the Women's Super League.
Taking her first plunge into coaching with London City Lionesses and England Under-23, Allen won Manager of the Month for March 2024 but departed the capital for the south coast when the Saints came calling.
A highly-ambitious second-tier club, Saints will be targeting promotion to join their male counterparts in the Premier League.
“I am absolutely delighted to be on board with such an incredible football club,” Allen told the club website.
“It’s such an exciting time to be here, the club has huge ambition and the group of players here are such a talented group.
“I can’t wait to get started on the journey, it’s going to be an exciting season ahead.”
