Losing every match in pre-season last time out, a run of form which stretched into the campaign and saw the club 10 points adrift at the foot of the table by November, this time around Watford, Woking and Queens Park Rangers have already been beaten.
Femi Azeez's second-half strike, and some rather fortunate poor finishing, helped the Royals over the line on Saturday at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, with just two friendlies remaining until the League One campaign gets underway.
This evening, hundreds of supporters are expected to travel down the M4 to the Welsh capital in what is the only away match in pre-season open to supporters.

"It is going to be a different challenge for this group- to go away for a midweek game later in the day- but that is why we put these games into our pre-season, to challenge different scenarios."
Hull City visit RG2 on Saturday in what will be the final warm-up fixture of the season.
