Reading manager Ruben Selles has given a positive injury update on midfielder Jay Senga after he limped off against Cardiff City.
Senga, who spent some time on loan in Scotland with Ayr United last season, started Wednesday's 2-1 defeat at Cardiff but limped off before the break after going down twice.
The 20-year-old Belgian was replaced by Louie Holzman, with Michael Craig moving from right-back into Senga's holding midfield role.
Struggling with injury last season too, supporters were fearful that the youngster could miss yet more key developmental time on the field ahead of what could be a breakthrough campaign.
However, Selles seemed confident that despite being taken off, the midfielder should not be missing for long.
"It should not be serious," he told the Reading Chronicle. "He’s had the problem with his back before and he had a quick recovery so it should not be a problem for him to continue."
Key injury concerns heading into the season remain at full-back, with Andy Yiadom, Kelvin Abfrefa, Jeriel Dorsett and John Ryan all out for varying lengths of time.
The Royals are unable to make any additions to their squad until a takeover is confirmed, with progress much slower than anticipated.
