After nearly 11 months of being up for sale, Reading Football Club are as close now to a takeover as they have been in the whole sorry saga.
The Reading Chronicle have pledged to round up all takeover news weekly with the hope that a change of ownership comes sooner rather than later.
Yet to hear back from former CEO Nigel Howe when it comes to a sit-down interview, and with the man tasked with selling the club yet to update Supporters Trust at Reading, there had been a dearth of news or progress.
July ended with news that 75-year-old American Rob Couhig was approaching a closed deal, with the former Wycombe Wanderers chief in the town often alongside former Chairboys captain Joe Jacobson.
Jacobson, who is in line to take up a role at the club once a deal is completed, has continued to work at Bearwood in recent weeks, even attending each of the last three pre-season friendlies.
Well, that’s sorted. Royals tv package purchased. Should be quality preparation for the season. Anxious to see the boys in action. pic.twitter.com/ZhSdfCiU3c

However, the speed of the process has frustrated many. The Telegraph had reported that it was due to be complete by the end of July, but the process appears no further along despite now entering August.
Supporters' hopes were raised last week when Couhig dropped a tease on Friday, confirming he had purchased a video pass to watch the Royals' 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers.
League One gets underway in eight days and it is looking increasingly unlikely that the club will have a new owner in time for the trip to Birmingham City on August 10.
