Almost 1,700 Reading supporters made the trip to Birmingham City for the opening day of the League One season, treated to an impressive performance in a 1-1 draw.

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan opened the scoring in the first half, deservedly putting the Royals ahead after a dominant display.

However, a dubious penalty awarded against Lewis Wing was converted by Alfie May with five minutes remaining.
