Reading are set to confirm the takeover by American businessman Rob Couhig and his consortium early next week.
With interest and negotiations stretching back for months, it has become one of the town's worst-kept secrets as the 75-year-old has spent time in and around the town alongside former Wycombe Wanderers captain Joe Jacobson.
However, as we tick into mid-August, it would appear that the end of the road is nigh.
It is understood that a deal has been agreed and all parties are keen to progress- with the final step in the process set for completion by the end of the week.
Formal announcement from the club is expected next week should all go to plan.
Couhig and his other investors are currently in the town and are planning for the future. All will be in attendance on Saturday for the first home match of the new season against Wigan Athletic
This is set to bring to a close eight years of tumultuous ownership under Dai Yongge, with the last 18 months bringing late payments to staff, creditors and His Majesty's Revenue and Customs.
After picking up a point at promotion favourites Birmingham City last week and a valiant comeback in the Carabao Cup, there is hope that the 2024/25 season could be an exciting one.
