Reading cruised to their first win of the season, beating Wigan Athletic 2-0 at the SCL Stadium.

Charlie Savage and Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan netted in each half, but it could and should have been a more convincing score line with chances missed.

Take a look below at our player ratings.

Joel Pereira, 7: Comfortable day at the office for the keeper, with only one effort in the second half testing the Portuguese stopper. Remained on his toes throughout, however, foiling a few half chances by rushing out fast.

Michael Craig, 7: Strong performance from the youngster despite remaining out of position. Never let his winger get a sniff and certainly didn't look out of place.

Amadou Mbengue, 7: A beast at the back, winning all his duals and using his pace to cover those around him expertly. Looked to drive the ball forward on occasion, committing defenders and creating overloads.

Tyler Bindon, 7: Another assured performance from the teenager, who continues to look like he has been playing for decades despite his young age. Had the occasional sloppy pass but defensively sound.

Jeriel Dorsett, 7: Similar to Craig on the other side, hardly give his winger a sniff. Powerful and in control of his flank throughout, the youngster is really growing into the full-back role.

Charlie Savage, 7: One of his best showings for the club, Savage was everywhere. Not giving Latics players a second's rest, the Wales international capped it all off with a second goal in successive matches.

Lewis Wing, 7: Didn't stand out as much as he has done but that is most probably because the whole team were at a high level of performance. Kept the team ticking and played some wonderful passes.

Ben Elliott, 8: As he looked last week, this boy has become a man over the summer. Strong and powerful, the Chelsea youngster has looked a totally different player from last season and will be picking up plenty of plaudits if he keeps it up.

Mamadi Camara, 6: A good showing from the youngster but yet to find a clinical edge. Should have grabbed himself a goal and probably an assist but end product still developing.

Sam Smith, 6: Getting himself into some great positions but was very wasteful on the day, failing to get off the mark for the campaign.

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan, 8: Alongside Elliott, 'Big Kelvin' has shown the greatest improvement over the summer and has netted in successive League One matches to open the season.

Substitutes
