Reading Under-18s and Under-21 sides got their league campaigns off to a mixed start with a win and a defeat.
Noel Hunt's Under-21s, which included three debutants, beat Middlesbrough 3-1 in their PL2 opener.
18-year-old Reece Evans, who last appeared for Leicester City, grabbed a brace while Larry Omororegie added a third off the bench.
Maddox McMillan and Kai Garrett also made their debuts on Teesside, with the Royals hoping to build on last season's successful sixth-place finish.
Fulham visit Bearwood on Saturday (12pm ko) for the first 'home' fixture of the season.
As well as PL2, the Under-21s are competing in the Premier League International Cup, with group matches to come against the likes of Valencia, Monaco and Ajax.
Meanwhile, Mikele Leigertwood's Under-18s lost 1-0 at Aston Villa in their opening league fixture.
Trai-Varn Mulley scored the only goal for the hosts in the first half to secure victory.
The Under-18s travel to Leicester City on Saturday (12pm ko).
