Always an exciting time for most football supporters, this summer transfer window has been painful for both supporters and staff at Reading as the English Football League have prevented movement until the protracted takeover by Rob Couhig is completed.

However, that's not to mean there haven't been plenty of Royal links to keep an eye on throughout August, with the window slamming shut in 52 hours' time.

Take a look below at all of the former Royals on the move in August ahead of this week's deadline.

Nelson Abbey [Olympiakos - Swansea] Loan

A fan favourite who rose through the Academy, the defender was only a first-team regular for half a season but certainly made his mark among supporters.

The Woodley-born centre-back has returned to British soil after leaving Greek giants Olympiacos on loan for the season.

Oliver Norwood [Sheffield United - Stockport] Free

Norwood will go down as one of the best passers of the ball Reading have had in recent times, holding down a position as a regular for two seasons after moving from Huddersfield Town in 2014.

Going on to impress in the second tier for the likes of Fulham and Sheffield United, the 32-year-old has stepped down to League One after making over 200 appearances for the Blades and appearing at major international tournaments with Northern Ireland.

Femi Azeez [Reading - Millwall] Undisclosed

Plucked out of non-league as a teenager, Azeez made nearly 100 appearances and enjoyed three years as a regular for Reading.

Picking up nearly 20 goal contributions last season, Millwall splashed out to take the winger to the Den- making his debut in Tuesday's Carabao Cup exit.

Tariqe Fosu [Unattached - Northampton] Free

A key member of Eamonn Dolan's successful Under-21 team in the mid-2010s, Fosu made one appearance for the club in 2015 before embarking on an EFL career spent predominantly in League One.

Spending time with Rotherham United last season in the Championship, the 28-year-old was released by Premier League Brentford over the summer and returns to the third tier with the Cobblers.

Tyrese Fornah [Derby - Salford] Loan

A former Academy player in his childhood and a loanee with the club in 2022/23, Fornah was popular among supporters for his infectious personality and high-energy style.

After winning promotion to the Championship with Derby County last season, the midfielder evidently expected little game time to go his way and has dropped to the fourth tier with Gary Neville's Salford City.

Dom Ballard [Southampton - Blackpool] Loan

A promising loanee last season, the teenager scored five goals before snapping his patella and missing the remainder of the season.

Linked with a return earlier in the summer, the 18-year-old opened his account for the Tangerines last week as he spends a season in the North-West.
