Reading vice-captain Lewis Wing has revealed that he would like to 'see out his career' with the club.
The 29-year-old arrived last summer and was a near ever-present, scoring 11 goals and picking up the Player of the Season award.
Currently wearing the captain's armband due to the injury to Andy Yiadom, Wing opened his account for 2024/25 in a Carabao Cup defeat to Colchester United.
Wing, and partner Yazmine Delarose, have both become firm favourites with supporters since the move from Wycombe Wanderers, regularly appearing on podcasts and speaking on social media.
With the transfer window closing at 11pm this evening, manager Ruben Selles has emphatically ruled out any exits due to the club's inability to sign new players until a takeover is confirmed.
Quizzed on his own future and whether rumours can upset what is a happy camp, the former Middlesbrough star said: "As long as it shuts and nobody leaves, we will be fine. It could cause a problem, but it depends on where your head is and what your situation is.
"I am really happy at this club so I’d like to see my career out here and play for as long as I can. More money sounds fantastic but there is more to life than money and my family are happy and that’s the most important thing to me."
Wing's contract does not expire until 2026 having arrived alongside the likes of Sam Smith and Harvey Knibbs during a busy summer 2023 window.
