Reading boss Ruben Selles has labelled his side's start to the new League One season as 'decent' but insists there is more to come from his team.

Heading into the first international break of the campaign, the Royals have lost one of their four fixtures in the third tier and sit in the top 10 on seven points.

Still with a very long way to go- 42 matches to be exact- the first enforced break of the campaign is the first milestone upon which to reflect.

After beating Charlton Athletic 2-0 on Saturday, Selles said: "We know that the start has been a continuation of pre-season. I think we had a powerful pre-season in terms of how we want to do things. The first four games looked like that- even the defeat against Wrexham was a game where we could have got more.

"It is for us to show what we are; the robustness, to continue doing things, keeping the players in line with the football project we have here internally and to keep them developing. It is for us to have a season where we can enjoy our football, enjoy our fans and enjoy the challenge.

"Let’s see where we are at the very end, but we need to be constant as every day will be a challenge. The beginning has been decent, but I think we can grow and be better."

Reading return to action on September 14 when Leyton Orient visit Berkshire. Richie Wellens' O's are yet to pick up a point to date.
