Former Reading captain Alex Pearce picked up a point in his first match in joint interim charge of local non-league, Bracknell Town.

The 35-year-old played nearly 250 times for the Royals in 15 years with the club, winning the Championship in 2012 and captaining the side to the FA Cup semi-final in 2015.

Going on to spells with Derby County, Bristol City, Millwall and AFC Wimbledon, the former Republic of Ireland international dropped into non-league with Bracknell of the Southern League Premier South.

Former manager Jordan Ive departed last week, along with the Robins' star striker Jordan Esprit.

Pearce, Max Herbert and Adam Richards stepped in for Saturday's fixture with Havant and Waterlooville at Bottom Meadow.

Falling behind to Ryan Seager's strike in the final 10 minutes, Ethan Burden equalised deep into stoppage time to preserve a point.

Playing for the side on top of his coaching role, Pearce picked up 23 per cent of the Man of the Match vote.

On Tuesday, Bracknell hop over the Berks-Bucks border to face newly-promoted Marlow at the Alfred Davis Memorial Stadium.
