Reading goalkeeper Joel Pereira is set to be missing for 'some weeks' after twisting his ankle in training, boss Ruben Selles has confirmed.
The Portuguese shot stopper has become a firm fans' favourite after breaking into the team at the start of the year, putting in some strong performances and winning the fans over with his infectious personality.
No other keeper has featured in League One so far this season for the Royals, but it looks set to be one of David Button or Coniah Boyce-Clarke for the foreseeable due to an ankle injury.
Boyce-Clarke, an Academy graduate with two cup appearances under his belt last month, was recalled from international duty with Jamaica in order to prepare for this weekend as Leyton Orient visit Berkshire.
"Joel twisted his ankle last week, so he is still not available," Selles told the media. "We need to see tomorrow- he did some scans and tomorrow we will have a definite solution for him.
"We thought it was very sensitive to bring Coniah back in order to give him the best preparation in case he needs to be called up on the weekend. I want to thank the Jamaican Federation and Steve McClaren because they were very comprehensive and supportive.
"We will have the results today or tomorrow morning. I don’t think it will be a massive injury but maybe some weeks."
It is not all negative, however, as popular midfielder Harvey Knibbs is set to return from injury to feature against the O's.
New Zealand international Tyler Bindon has also been cleared to play after a two-week break having been substituted last time out due to a suspected head injury.
