Sky Sports legend Jeff Stelling sent a social media message of support for fans of Reading after news emerged of the takeover collapse.
75-year-old Rob Couhig was due to end Dai Yongge's seven-year reign but a deal collapsed at the 11th hour to end hopes of an imminent takeover.
The supporters have been protesting against Yongge for 12 months, something which the former Countdown and Gillette Soccer Special host advocated for at the time.
Famously, the presenter backed fans after they invaded the pitch during a match with Port Vale in February and saw the fixture abandoned.

After seeing the news this morning, Stelling said: "Never-ending troubles at Reading continue. Feel for their fans."
Supporters are eagerly awaiting updates from protest group Sell Before We Dai over the next course of action.
Couhig and the club are yet to comment at this stage.
