The Football Association have confirmed the date of the draw for the first round proper of the Emirates FA Cup.
The oldest club competition in the world, the Royals will find out their opponents for the first round on Monday, October 14.
Bradford City are hosting the draw as 48 EFL clubs from League One and League Two join those remaining non-league sides.
It is not until round three, which takes place in January, that Championship and Premier League teams enter.
Last season, non-league Eastleigh knocked the Royals out in round two after Ruben Selles' side had beaten MK Dons in round one.
Reading have rich history in the competition during the last 15 years, reaching quarter finals in 2010, 2011 and 2016.
Steve Clarke's side went one better in 2015, reaching a semi-final at Wembley Stadium where Arsenal won after extra-time on route to lifting the trophy.
1927 is the only other time the club have reached the final four, leaving them among the oldest clubs to have never reached an FA Cup final.
Manchester United are the reigning champions having beaten Manchester City in May's showpiece final.
