Reading are tipped for a 13th-place finish in the latest round of predictions by the Supercomputer.
The Royals have played nine matches to date and do not return to League One action for 11 days due to the international break.
After Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Rotherham United, Reading sit in 16th with four wins and four defeats as well as one draw.
The last Supercomputer, coming at the end of August, had Reading to earn promotion via the play-offs.
However, Grosvenor Sport have tipped Reading for a bottom-half finish but a vast improvement on last campaign.
Despite suffering their first league defeat of the season at the hands of Charlton, Birmingham are expected to finish top, with Huddersfield going up with them, automatically.
Lincoln, Charlton, Bolton and Stockport make up the top six. The Supercomputer says Stockport will beat Charlton in the play-off final.
Crawley, Shrewsbury, Cambridge and Burton are expected to be relegated.
