Reading boss Ruben Selles has admitted that he 'does not know what the future is' amid rumours linking him to the vacant managerial role at Cardiff City.
The Bluebirds, rock-bottom of the Championship, sacked Erol Bulut last month and Spaniard Selles is said to be a name discussed by the hierarchy in the Welsh capital.
According to WalesOnline, Selles has already formed discussions among the board at Cardiff and will be a 'chunky segment of the hierarchy's discussions' in a meeting over recent days.'
Guiding the Royals through a difficult 18 months, keeping the club in League One despite suffering multiple points deductions, the Spaniard had admitted in recent weeks that he is not happy after Rob Couhig's protracted takeover attempt collapsed last month.
The club have confirmed that exclusivity has been agreed with an unnamed party, but Selles' patience is wearing thin.

Speaking at a charity event organised by Reading FC Former Players’ Association, Selles remained coy on his future.
"The ‘project’ is some word that is not the case of what we’re doing right now- we are surviving," he said in Tilehurst. "In December last year, I forfeited my wages and there was no money to pay the technical staff fully before Christmas. I told my agent that you need to keep an eye in case somebody asks because we don’t know where this situation is going. I have my compromise; I think my compromise with Reading fans and the club cannot be doubted.
"When it’s about other clubs, I let my agent talk because if the moment arrives tomorrow, in two months or in a year, the first thing I would like to be is respectful to Reading.
"Right now, we are just surviving here, and I am giving 100 per cent every time but I don’t know what the future is going to be for Reading or myself because the situation is not sustainable in the long-term."
Reading return to League One action next Saturday at home to Crawley Town.
