"It was something that I've always wanted at different clubs," he said. "I think it is testament to that special bond we had as a player with the club, fans and everyone. It's always nice as a player to go back somewhere you are fondly remembered. I like to think there are a few clubs that would do that and I’m lucky that Reading are one of them.
"I had the opportunity with Rotherham to be a guest for the game [with Reading last week] but obviously I was playing. It’s nice that I’ve got Reading, I’ve got Rotherham, and I like to think I’d have Bolton as well with fond memories there. It’s really touching for me. It shows what a special time it was and I’m happy to have played a small part in that success."
"We were very relatable as a team- we were very hard working, and I think people got behind you," Le Fondre said when quizzed on why fans still reminisce. "With the heartache fans have had over the years it is easy to look back on successful times than the mediocrity that followed. Jaap had the play-off season, and they went far in the FA Cup but other than that it’s been quite poor really for a club of Reading’s size. For everything that has gone on ownership-wise, to look back on great memories of promotion and the Premier League is amazing.
"I’ve not had the chance to do these things. It doesn’t help that I was out of the country for six years but it’s one of those things. It’s nice to come back to Reading and have a nice evening with stories a relive great memories for myself and the fans."
