Reading discovered their FA Cup first-round opponents last night, always a popular date in the diary for supporters to dream of a giant-killing or trip to Wembley.
Fleetwood Town will visit the SCL Stadium next month for just the second time in the club's history, having won 2-1 last season in League One.
Treated to an FA Cup semi-final a decade ago, as well as three quarter-finals in the last 15 years, the Royals are among the oldest clubs yet to lift the historic piece of silverware- or even reach the final.
Another year of hope begins next month, but for now let's look back at the last five ties Reading faced in round one, a run stretching back to 1998.
1998/1999: Reading 0-1 Stoke City
The Madejski Stadium's first FA Cup tie was not what the 10,000 supporters in attendance had hoped for as Stoke City squeaked through narrowly courtesy of Kyle Lighbourne's goal just before the half-hour mark.
In the league, Tommy Burns' side finished 11th in the new stadium's first campaign.
1999/2000: Reading 4-2 Yeovil Town
Only 8,000 fans turned out in RG2 as Conference side Yeovil visited Berkshire.
Defender Andy Bernal opened the scoring for the Royals before Adrian Foster equalised five minutes later.
Darren Caskey, Barry Hunter and Martin Williams completed the scoring for Reading as Jason Eaton pulled back a late consolation for the 4-2 victory.
Halifax Town were dispatched after a replay in round two before Plymouth Argyle knocked Alan Pardew's side out in a round three replay.
2000/2001: Reading 4-0 Grays Athletic
History was made at the stadium on November 18, 2000, as Grays, of Isthmian League Premier Division, faced Football League opposition for the first time
Less than 6,000 supporters turned out for the game and it was as one-sided as one may expect, with Lee Hodges opening the scoring on 16 minutes.
Jamie Cureton, Martin Butler and Keith Jones scored in the final half-hour and completed the rout.
York City knocked Reading out in round two after a replay at Bootham Crescent.
2001/02: Reading 1-0 Welling United
Conference South side Welling made it a hattrick of non-league opponents in round one back in 2002, with the crowd falling yet still to under 5,500 in total.
Cureton scored the only goal of the game on the hour-mark and Peter Overton had been sent off for the visitors in the first-half.
For a second season in a row, York knocked Reading out in round two but the Minstermen did not need a replay on this occasion, winning 2-0.
2023/24 Reading 3-2 MK Dons
After more than 20 years of entering a round three, the Royals returned to the first round upon relegation to League One in 2023.
Under 4,500 turned out on this occasion but those that did go were treated to an exciting clash.
Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan opened the scoring inside three minutes but Max Gilbey equalised before the break.
Ruben Selles made changes and first-team regulars Harvey Knibbs and Lewis Wing scored in quick succession to put daylight between the sides.
Max Dean pulled one back in stoppage time for Mike Williamson's men and were perhaps unfortunate not to earn a penalty seconds later which could have forced a replay.
In round two, National League Eastleigh knocked Reading out 2-1 with a last-gasp winner live on ITV.
