A statue of Port Vale legend John Rudge has been unveiled outside Vale Park on his 80th birthday- which Reading fans helped make happen.
Back in January, Royals fans invaded the pitch in the 18th minute of a game against the Valiants and refused to move until it was abandoned in protest against owner Dai Yongge.
Vale fans who made the trip down from Burslem behaved exemplary and joined Reading fans in protesting against poor ownership.
Reading fans contributed to a GoFundMe to build a statue of Rudge- the legendary figure who managed more than 800 matches.
Royals fans contributed nearly £10,000 and the statue was formally unveiled on Monday, with representatives from Sell Before We Dai and Supporters Trust at Reading in attendance.
Speaking to Supporters Trust at Reading chair Sarah Turner before the match with Port Vale in February, Rudge said: "I’m overwhelmed for what you have done for me. I have been very fortunate that the Port Vale supporters have gone to build a statue for me for my 80th birthday which is in October.
"To raise £100,000 was going to be difficult, but with your help and assistance in donating nearly £10,000, I am so grateful. Thank you very much indeed."
