Reading boss Ruben Selles is expecting a 'really difficult game' at Edgeley Park this evening as Stockport County host the Royals for the first time in over 25 years.

The Hatters have had a meteoric rise in the past six years, earning promotion from the sixth tier to the third under Dave Challinor.

Experiencing their first away defeat of the season on Saturday at Lincoln City, Reading last visited Stockport in 1998 and lost 5-1 and have not won there for over 50 years.

However, the Royals are searching for a fourth successive win having earned nine points last week, including a first away win of the season at Exeter City on Tuesday.

Speaking after Saturday's 1-0 victory over Bristol Rovers, Selles said: "I expect a really difficult game away from home. They like to control the game in possession and are a team that have just been promoted and are performing well in the division. I expect a difficult game and we need to be at our best if we want to take something from the stadium."

Challinor, a regular against Reading in his playing days, added: "Reading have their own threats. We know that they have real pace, and we will have to defend well in wide areas. They’ve got some standout players that are really attacking for them. As a minimum, you have to match what you’re coming up against."

This is Reading's final league match of the month, with Bristol Street Motors Trophy and FA Cup action returning in the following seven days.
