Reading boss Ruben Selles has admitted that he is 'not getting involved' in any discussions relating to the off-field issues at the club amid a hectic fixture schedule in the coming weeks.

The Royals have been up for sale for over a year and are still under the ownership of controversial businessman Dai Yongge.

The club were on the brink of being sold to American Rob Couhig over the summer, however a deal collapsed at the 11th hour.

In exclusive negotiations with an unnamed party, it is believed that talks are progressing but fans and staff remain pessimistic after multiple takeover collapses.

Asked about his involvement following Tuesday's 4-1 defeat at Stockport County, Selles admitted: "I have not been involved. I told the rest of the management group that I didn’t want to be involved in the last 10 days because it has been so busy. I will probably get an update tomorrow [Wednesday], but I just decided to be fully focused on the football side.

"Overall, it has been a good cycle for us-even with today. As much as we can focus on football, we will be in a better place."

Reading are in cup action this week, hosting Fleetwood Town in the FA Cup on Saturday before travelling to Cheltenham Town in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on Tuesday.
