Reading boss Ruben Selles is expecting a 'completely different game' at Stevenage on Saturday to the one which his team last season- dubbed 'The Game of the Rain.'

The Royals return to League One action at the Lamex Stadium this weekend after a pair of cup fixtures and take an injury-hit squad to Hertfordshire as well as a sold-out contingent of away supporters.

Under the management of Alex Revell this season, after the exit of Steve Evans to Rotherham United, the Boro are sat 15th in the table.

Looking ahead to the trip, Selles said: "Stevenage is a very good opponent. Last season, under Steve, they were brilliant at what they do. This season they are keeping some of the characteristics but changing a little bit.

"They are a difficult team to beat, and we expect a very competitive game- like today. We need to be on top if we can get points from that game."

Last season, the Royals won just four away matches, one of which came at Stevenage.

Amadou Mbengue's long-throw was turned in during an evening of torrential rain to keep the resurgent Royals on track to overturn a 10 point deficit and stay in the league.

Looking back at the win, and assessing if anything can be taken into the game on Saturday, Selles added: "Memories are memories. We remember that game as ‘The Game of the Rain.’ It was a lot of rain, a lot of duals and second actions. We scored from a long throw from Amadou to Sam and some deflection led to an own goal.

"It was one of those games you remember because the team was ultra-competitive. I expect a completely different game on the weekend, so they are good memories, but with memories we are not going to get points."
