Reading boss Ruben Selles has named a strong starting side for this evening's crunch EFL Trophy clash with Newport County, including the captain Lewis Wing.

Selles hinted on Saturday that the squad will remain strong with the aim of progressing into the knockout phase- only achieved with a win- as well as having 10 days rest with the upcoming international break.

Last week, the Royals lost 1-0 at Cheltenham Town with an average age of just 19 in the same competition, but this time around a much more recognisable side starts.

David Button keeps his place in goal, standing behind a back four of Ashqar Ahmed; Amadou Mbengue; Jeriel Dorsett and Andre Garcia.

Wing remains in the heart of midfield from the weekend's 1-1 draw at Stevenage, as does Ben Elliott, and joined by youngster Shay Spencer.

Mamadi Camara starts, as he did at the Lamex Stadium, in a three with Jayden Wareham and Adrian Akande.

Experienced stars such as Michael Craig and Harvey Knibbs are on the bench if required, with the winner guaranteeing second place in the group and passage into the next round.
